Order and update indoor maps

A comprehensive set of tools permits HERE to produce indoor maps quickly and at scale, while keeping costs to a minimum, resulting in highly competitive pricing.

Orders for new indoor maps and indoor map updates are requested through the Indoor portal.

Order an indoor map

Indoor maps are produced for you by HERE. To place an order for a new map, you will need floor plans of your venue and some basic information about the building, such as the street address. For further details, see the following section for an overview of the required information.

The order flow starts from the Indoor portal by clicking an Order a map -button in the Overview or Your Indoor Maps tab.

Having analyzed your information, HERE will contact you with a quoted price for producing the indoor map, along with any further questions if some details are unclear. After agreeing to the quoted price, HERE will start producing the map. The lead time to produce the map depends of the current queue, but it is typically around two weeks.

You will get a notification by email when the indoor map is available and available for you in the Indoor portal on the HERE platform. As a result, the indoor map status will change from in creation (a map being created for the first time) or pending update (an existing map being updated) to ready, and you will also get a notification that your order is complete. You can then use the indoor map without taking any further actions.

Update an indoor map

You can place an order to HERE if a change or an update is needed to an indoor map. A change includes such updates as:

• A wall is removed.
• An occupant of a shop space changes.
• A meeting room name changes.
• Adding a new level/floor to the building.

The update flow starts from the Indoor portal by clicking the annotation sign in the upper right corner of the view, when viewing the indoor map. Having placed an update order, the indoor map status will change from ready to pending update (an existing map being updated). After HERE processes the update request, the status changes back to ready, and you will also get a notification that your order is complete. You can then use the indoor map without taking any further actions.

Information needed for an order/update

The following sections list the information required to order a new map. The fields support UTF-8 characters, and there are no hard limits for the character count. However, HERE recommends that you do not include entries with excessive characters, such as when providing map names.

Map name

The name of the indoor map. HERE supports a UTF-8 character set and does not have a hard limit for the name length. However, HERE recommends that you do not include entries with excessive characters and instead use shorter names whenever possible.

This mandatory information is visible on the Indoor portal and included in the indoor map data itself.

Map type

Type of map based on building type. Examples include the following building types:

• Office
• Airport
• Parking garage
• Hospital
• Hotel

Building address

Address of your venue. Please provide the full address along with the street address, city, and country.

Additional information (optional)

Any other relevant information about the order or map (free text). Use this field to e.g. describe changes needed for the map, when ordering an update.

Routing information

Whether the connectivity information is included within the indoor map. This enables using your own routing service based on the HERE-provided data.

Geometric information (optional)

Number of levels, floors, or stories in your indoor map.

Estimated total area of the indoor map, in square meters.

Floor plan files

Upload floor plan files. HERE supports a wide variety of file formats, including CAD, PDF, and SVG.
